What is Hyfrecator?

A Hyfrecator is a safe form of electrosurgery in which controlled current is used to heat up and destroy tissue. It is a low powered device that works very well for destroying skin tags, red skin spots (cherry angiomas), sun spots (seborrheic keratosis), and a medley of other undesirable skin blemishes. The depth of the burn the Hyfrecator creates is very shallow. As a result, a protective crust protects the healthy underlying skin during the healing process. This treatment is one of the best (and safest) treatment modalities for superficial lesions like skin tags and red spots!

Your Consultation

During your initial consultation, your Licensed Esthetician will confirm that your skin blemish or lesion is appropriate for removal with the Hyfrecator. In some cases, she may suggest an alternative method such as Laser Vein Therapy. She will also discuss any pre and post care that will make your treatment more effective and improve your healing.

Treatment

Treatments with the Hyfrecator are only mildly uncomfortable. Your Certified Laser Clinician may apply a cool compress or even numbing cream to the treatment site beforehand, but many patients do not need this. The sensation of the treatment is often described as “hot and pokey,” but the treatment is so quick, that only minimal discomfort is experienced.

Recovery and Results

Most patients see complete removal of their skin blemish within one session, although up to 3 sessions may be needed for more persistent milia, or skin tags. Unlike other methods available, the Hyfrecator causes no scarring and incurs minimal downtime after your procedure. Your Certified Laser Technician will discuss the proper post care to keep your treatment area clear and healthy and to prevent future occurrences.
