Dr. Zachary Farhood

Dr. Zachary Farhood is a board-certified head & neck surgeon and facial plastic & reconstructive surgeon.

Born and raised in Houston, Texas, his parents were practicing physicians and would frequently bring him to work; this early exposure to medicine piqued his interest in the profession. In high school, he sustained a wrestling injury and was treated by a facial plastic surgeon who was also a former wrestler. The surgeon later came to one of his matches and left an indelible impression on him regarding the impact medicine can have outside of the operating room.

Dr. Farhood’s Background

Dr. Farhood graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Texas, Austin with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and completed his medical education at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston – home to the world’s largest medical center. In his final year, he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor society.

After obtaining his medical degree, he completed a clinical research fellowship in the Department of Otolaryngology at the Medical University of South Carolina where he conducted numerous clinical trials, published extensively in the scientific literature, and presented his work at several national meetings. He has produced over 50 peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and book chapters. He then completed a five-year residency in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at Saint Louis University, earning multiple accolades for his teaching, compassionate care, and scholastic achievements.

Experience

Following this, he pursued advanced fellowship training via the American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Toronto, ranked by Times Higher Education as 5th in the world for clinical and health and 2nd among North American public institutions. Known as the most diverse city in the world, Dr. Farhood treated patients of various cultural backgrounds in the glamorous Yorkville neighborhood, including high-profile celebrities, athletes, and politicians, and brought an international eye with special attention to detail for his patients.

Dr. Farhood’s philosophy includes getting to know his patients and their goals, educating and empowering them, and setting realistic expectations. He strives to create a calming, non-judgmental environment where patients can enhance and celebrate their natural beauty and improve their self-confidence. A forever student of life, he loves learning new things and acquiring new skills, having studied Spanish, Italian, and Arabic. He is a self-proclaimed “foodie” and avid home chef. Dr. Farhood is also a burgeoning cyclist and enjoys exploring the vast network of trails throughout the Twin Cities.
