Unveil smooth, soft and even skin as you exfoliate away a dull complexion with Microdermabrasion.
When you look in the mirror do you see a dull and lifeless complexion looking back? Do you constantly seem to be battling blackheads and makeup that never quite looks even? Dead skin cell buildup may be to blame! Human skin sheds over 30,000 cells each MINUTE, and if those cells aren’t properly detaching from our skin their buildup can make us look dry, dull and old! Microdermabrasion can restore vibrant, soft skin that is full of life and improve several skin conditions such as congestive acne!
Microdermabrasion is a form of physical exfoliation, or removing dead skin cells from the skin’s surface. While chemical peels utilize chemical reactions to dissolve dead skin cells, microdermabrasion physically knocks off, or buffs away dead skin cells via small crystals blown at the skin, or by the diamond embedded tip of a skin implement. Simultaneously, vacuum suction draws these dead cells away from the skin leaving you soft and smooth.
Why does this build up happen? Each of us has a normal state of desquamation, or at what rate our cells are born and go through an entire lifespan to eventually shed off the surface of our skin. For normal, healthy adults, this process is 3 months on average. But, this time interval slows down significantly as we age and can lead to cells building up. These built up cells that refuse to detach can make us look dull, grey and even combine with the oil on our skin to impact a pore and exacerbate blackheads or acne conditions. Regular microdermabrasion treatments can assist in keeping this cellular turnover moving along at a healthy rate.
In addition to helping diminish the appearance of superficial hyperpigmentation (sun damage), fine lines, acne and shallow acne scarring, Microdermabrasion also enhances the absorption of your skincare products by 10-50%! In essence, it allows your skincare to work BETTER because the ingredients aren’t being buffered by dead skin cells in their way. In turn, Microdermabrasion is a must before special event makeup application or sunless tanner!
Treatments are very comfortable and carry minimal, to very few possible side effects or complications. However, some patients may experience temporary mild dryness, sun sensitivity, and rarely temporary bruising or scratches in the area of skin treated. To see optimal results, our aestheticians recommend Microdermabrasion in a series, or done oppositional to another procedure such as Hydrafacial MD® or dermablading.

*Your aesthetician or physician may recommend laser resurfacing or dermabrasion if your acne scarring, or other form of scarring, is at a greater depth than what Microdermabrasion may be suitable for.
I was recently in for face fillers and botox, performed by Dr. Griffin. I have been simply astounded by the results. My closest family and friends just keep telling me I look great, but not one of them knows I had work done unless told. Dr. Griffin is an artist, pure and simple, and has the best bed-side manner. I am thrilled with the results and the experience. Never felt better. I am so happy with the results.
