Moles are small, pigmented lesions on the skin that may or may not have been present since birth. There are many different ways to “remove” a mole depending on what type of mole it is, such as laser excision or removal. Your surgeon will discuss which option is best for you based on your initial evaluation. Some moles are pre-cancerous, however, most are benign. As a precaution, all tissue from mole removal procedures at clinics will be sent to an outside laboratory to understand the pathology of your mole and proceed as necessary based on your test results.
